Is it too early to be thinking Summer 2012?

I've had my eye out for this pattern for some time now and it finally came into my local Fabricland.

It's Burda Style 7798 pattern for a dress and tops.

I like the simple lines and A-line cut skirt on the dress.

I picked it for the dress pattern. I think it would be perfect for spring / summer. I would just like to add some pockets. Hmm, patch pockets in the front or side seam pockets.  I'm going to have to think about that one.

I'm going to have to make a muslin for this one. I'm still trying to figure out my Burda Style size. I've learned that not all pattern companies fit the same way.

I plan to do something that I don't normal do, mix fabrics. I thought that I would use the print fabric for the bodice and short sleeve pieces and the gold coloured fabric for the skirt portion.

The fabrics are of the same fibre content. 100% cotton stretch sateen that is now found in the reduced section of my local Fabricland for 70% off.

I really do love the deals that you can pick up at the end-of-season. Swweeeet!

  1. This is a very cute dress pattern! I like the two different fabrics you have chosen for the bodice and skirt.
(and thank you for your nice comment on my top...)

  2. Great looking pattern - and the fabrics you have picked out are very lovely. I don't see why you shouldn't be thinking a season ahead - it will be so nice when the very first glimmer of sunshine arrives to have something new to wear!

  3. Carolyn, your welcome. The compliment was well deserved, I enjoy reading your blog. I wish I had your (and Eugenia's) level of skill. Thanks for the inspiration until I get there.

Eugenia, I think you're right, it would be nice to have something new ready when the first signs of spring arrive.

I can't wait to clear off the projects I have on the go right now and make a muslin of the pattern.
