Repeat Project: OOP Vogue 1247

Out-of-print (OOP) Vogue 1247 made another appearance on the cutting table. I've lost count how many versions of this skirt I've made over the years. I'm sure it won't be the last, this pattern is a keeper.

I was thrilled that I was able to squeak out this skirt from a remnant of fabric left over from the last version made. It is a medium weight cotton sateen that already had two skirts made from its original yardage. I honestly questioned whether or not it would be enough. With some creative placement, I was able to cut all the pattern piece except the waistband.

Grosgrain ribbon replaced a waistband cut from the fashion fabric. A line of stitching was sewn at 5/8" from the edge as a placement guide for the grosgrain ribbon. The ends were finished with a wide roll of the ribbon three layers thick so that it was stable enough to securely hold the medal snap. The usual addition to the skirt length was done to this version, an additional twelve inches finished with a two inch hem.

Year in Review

Well, I guess I will start with some stats.  In 2024, I focused on two things, sewing from the stash and no more polyester.  Let's start...
