I'm making another dress for Mama R, she already has at least three versions of this dress. It had me thinking about favourite pattern that keep popping up.
I am currently sewing up another dress using this pattern. Mama R loves this pattern because of the tucks at the neckline. It is her favourite feature. But she did ask that the opening at the neckline be made smaller.
She did make some other design requests to make it her perfect dress pattern. The front centre seam has been omitted. The back centre seam now has an invisible zipper. And the sleeves are lengthened.
Vogue 2885: This is one of my favourite skirt patterns. I've made four versions of this skirt. One version is a striped, one is a print and two are solid coloured. I don't have a desire to sew another one but I'm keeping it on stand-by just in case the desire strikes again.
Vogue 1247:This Rachel Comey designed skirt has been tweaked by adding 10+ inches to become a wardrobe staple. I believe there are five versions of this skirt pattern in my closet. It is a comfortable skirt.
Most of these skirts are made in a cotton sateen or cotton fabric. I might have to dig this pattern out to make one for the cooler winter weather.
This pattern was once part of my stash in a much smaller size and then I came across a copy of it on-line!
Back-in-the-day I made one out of a grey suit fabric like the one in the pattern photo. I was younger and flat chested compared to today and didn't mind the low cut bodice. There was nothing to show back then.
I made the second copy in a floral polyester and raised the front bodice one inch. I do love it but it is a bit on the dressy side. I have a third version in mind. I plan to use a small grey check light-weight wool and raise this neckline up two inches to make it more work appropriate option. And maybe throw in some side pockets.
I love, love, love this dress pattern despite the silly vogue model poses. I have two dresses made with this pattern, one in a black linen and the other in a taupe crepe knit. Can you believe that I was thinking about making a mint colour knit version this summer? I don't know where the time went!
Vogue 1325:I have already made one pair of these pants and I'm itching to make two more pairs. Just have to tweak the fit a wee bit in the front and this pattern is my idea of perfect.

ReplyDeleteBut, after owning Butterick 5908 (!) I am going to make at least another pair of pants with this pattern. I also have 2 versions of New Look 6104 with 2 more planned.
I looooove that Vogue suit pattern. It has been on my wish list and I pick it up EVERY TIME I got to a pattern sale but I never bite the bullet on it. I just feel like it is still beyond my skill set.
I suspect that the Vogue suit pattern won't be beyond your skill set considering that you've made Butterick 5908 pants. I found the Vogue pants fine to sew up without difficulty. I think Vogue put an Advance rating on the pattern because of the jacket and invisible zippers on the shirt sleeves. DeleteOtherwise, if it is the pants pattern I would say go for it. I'm a gal with hips and curves that make it a challenge to find a good pant pattern and I found this a comfortable fit. I really found the raised waistline comfy.
I keep wanting to make the Simplicity 2372 dress- do you think your Mother and I could have matching animal print dresses?
