We're getting ready for Christmas around here.
This evening we were decorat- ing the tree.
I was quite happy that my decorations came out of storage this year. I guess you can say I'm a big kid at heart. I love my ornaments from vintage cartoons of my youth.
Curious George, Betty Boop, The Grinch, Fred, Barney, Wilma, and Betty (the other Betty) have a place on the tree.
The Flinstone decorations have to be my favourite.
I made these when I first moved out on my own and money was tight. They're made from a 100% cotton fabric that had the Flinstone characters on them. I cut them out, stuffed them with batting and the other side is a black lining fabric that I serged together. But they also remind me of my favourite childhood cartoon that I used to watch with my dad. Yabba-Dabba-Doo!
Mama R doesn't share these fond memories and had banished them off from the tree. I might have to sneak one or two of them onto the tree on Christmas Eve. I don't think she'll notice with all the holiday visitors keeping her busy.
